Coke

Coal coke is produced by carbonizing steaming coal caking coal at approximately 1200 ℃ or higher. Carbonizing coal removes volatile matter, sulfur, coal tar, pitch, and other components from the coal, increasing the amount of heat generated during combustion and allowing to achive high temperatures. As it has low sulfur content and can reach high temperatures, it is primarily used as a reducing agent for blast furnaces in steelworks.
